This week, Francis and Nate discuss the curious case of George Papadopoulos and the day he apparently skipped the mandatory Operational Security courses.
Now Tina from the cyber security class can tell you that OPSEC is everyone's business. George decided something else should be everyone's business, namely that the Russians had damaging information about Hillary Clinton and wanted to share it with the Trump administration. He shared this over drinks, very loudly and within earshot of Australian diplomats. Who then did the correct thing and told the FBI.
Is George trying to impress some people? Possibly. He's a mediocre white dude in a see of mediocre white dudes, and he's certainly not landing on anyone's 30 under 30 list. Was there something sinister there? I can't imagine he's trying to undermine the one political administration dumb enough to give that guy a job.
Or is he really, really fucking stupid? Absolutely. In 2016, there was a fraction of the republican party filled with people like George. Extremely unfuckable men who are strangely rich and somehow balding in their mid 20s. The people who Ted Cruz wouldn't take.
So they kissed the ass of Trump because a long shot is better than no shot at all. And that shot hit us right in the head and birthed an administration that welcomed obvious racist Steve Bannon and Nazi sympathizer Sebastion Gorka. They defied all odds and created the dumbest time line imaginable.
